Our family owned Mammoth Lakes Pack Outfit has been providing hiking, camping and horseback vacations in the Eastern Sierras for over 90 years. We are a full service pack outfit in the Inyo National Forest - the John Muir Wilderness - providing all types of hiking, camping, and horseback vacations - including our famous horse drives, adventurous hiking or horseback pack trips, and daily horseback rides. Our friendly and knowledgable staff will help you in planning the vacation trip you've always dreamed of. If you have any questions, please contact us by calling, emailing, or writing us.

Mammoth Lakes Pack Outfit offers two ways to get you to your camping destination - either ride in on horseback or you can hike. The maximum persons per group is 12. Riding age is 10 and up (children younger must have riding experience).

Our Services

From June through September travel on horseback or hike to your spectacular camping adventure in the Eastern Sierras. We offer a variety of services to make your visit enjoyable. For more pictures, be sure to see our picture collection.

Horse Day Rides
Daily horseback rides (1 hour, 2 hours, half day, and full day) conveniently located near the town of Mammoth Lakes - fun for the entire family. Directions to the pack outfit.

Spot Trips
Your camp gear and food are hauled by pack animal while you ride or hike to your chosen campsite. Your packer and stock return for you on a predetermined date.

Extended Hire of Packer and Stock
Similar to Spot Trips except that the packer and stock will remain with your party for the duration of your trip.

All-Inclusive Trips
All-inclusive packages include - stock, packers, cooks, food, and camp kitchen gear. We'll plan your trip to meet your special interests - call, email or write for sample itineraries and menus. Ideal for family gatherings, or business outings.

Spring and Fall Horse Drives
Ride along with our crew and family as we drive our herd of horses and mules near our summer headquarters in Mammoth Lakes. All-Inclusive. Click here for detail

Bodie Trail Ride
Ride into mustang country and the old west to the ghost town of Bodie and then on to the historic mining camp of Mesonic. All-Inclusive.
